Ultimate Instability, Octagon and Dojo Youth

Thursday Blogtime but to be honest I don't have much energy to get started.
The biggest cause is still that annoying pain that I constantly feel in my back, it just doesn't want to go smoothly. There is some improvement but it is too slow for my liking. Especially sitting behind my computer plays tricks on me, after about 10 minutes I have to stand up or at least move a bit. But yes enough complaining, when I started writing about the ins and outs of our Dojo I promised myself not to skip a single week.

Teachers' strike
The on paper fantastic idea to use Dojo Burning Heart for childcare during the teachers' strike this day has yielded too few registrations to go ahead. The main cause in our opinion is the short time of our action, most parents had already arranged childcare, hence only 9 registrations which is too little to get a whole team on the feet to entertain the Kids.

Octagon
Today (Thursday) the Octagon was repaired again, a connecting piece of the upper beam was broken and this problem has been solved by a heavier connection. What remains is the mesh, which has too much play in some places due to pounding and counter-attacks. It is not the case that dangerous situations can arise as a result, but the eye also wants something. Now it was suggested to stretch a wire along the entire length, but we abandoned that idea, precisely because such a thing encourages injuries.
The idea now is to make a so-called lashing strap between the meshes of the mesh and thus give the mesh a better appearance again. The advantage is that you can regularly tighten this strap when necessary. Today I sent an email to a company that can supply a 27 meter tire. At the galas that you sometimes see on TV, the mesh is replaced by new ones every time the cage is built up if necessary, something we can't do.

Ultimate Instability
Some new stuff for the Crossfight classes has arrived, including a ball that is partially filled with water and filled with air. Also a, call it a hand thing, which, just like the ball, is partially filled with water. The movable water in these devices creates instability and is a lot of fun to handle. Name of these things, Ultimate Instability.
In addition, a large square box that is not as hard as our existing boxes. The accompanying photo shows these 3. In the back of the Crossfight, simple supports have also been made on the concrete beams for, among other things, the red mats. These mats are now lying here and there on the floor and make for a sloppy look of the cCrossfight, so please hang them up neatly after use. Small effort, right!!

Message Dojo youth
This Sunday several members of Dojo Burning Heart will be in the ring during a gala in The Hague. Kiki, Ayoub, Vince, Chris and Menno will show their skills at this gala.
Vince and Ayoub have both fought a demo match before, but now these top players can finally fight a "real" match. Of course, we wish both of you the best of luck, just like our other representatives of Dojo Burning Heart!

Continued history of Burning Heart

With many hands, the piles of aerated concrete blocks intended for the walls etc. were brought up through a window. Quite a nice sight to see the volunteers of this job at work. Through a human link, the blocks were passed around one by one and stacked on the still empty work floor. The mountain of blocks grew steadily and after the necessary drops of sweat, the last block was passed around and everyone was treated to a beer after this job. The next step was to determine exactly where the various spaces would be created. A main headache was how big the dressing rooms will be. Of course, we had gathered the necessary information from existing gyms, but to say now that we have become much wiser. One advised this, the other that. In short, I just went with my own vision. You can't exactly call the women's locker room big, but who could have imagined that we would get so many female athletes as members. Fortunately, there is a fallback option for the ladies in the corner on the other side of the sports floor where changing room, toilet and 2 showers are available for our female members. Once all these places were on paper, the actual construction could begin. Soon the contours of the various spaces took shape and the placement of the blocks progressed steadily. With the exception of a few paid workers, the work was carried out by many volunteers.
A wonderful sight to see the progress every day. The toilet was built with priority so that the toilet block, the urinal and the sink could soon be placed. Quite important for understandable reasons!! Then it was the turn of the changing rooms and showers, quite a bit of work to get all the pipes and the like installed because the regulations that had to be met did not lie.

Until my next blog.
