Speedball back in the Dojo

I'm actually quite happy that I came up with the idea to fill my blog with the chapter "History" when it's cucumber time at the Dojo. Because it's still cucumber time and not much is happening that is worth mentioning. However, the treadmill I talked about in my previous blog is ready for use, the previous one that is still in the area still needs to be dismantled and disposed of.

Speedball
The Speedball is present again and we hope that it will be used for its intended purpose, so not like you sometimes see at the fair. You can find an example on facebook and you can also see it on you tube. Click on this link

Pec Deck
The Pec Deck is still waiting for the new upholstery of the bench and supports. We had hoped that it would be ready around this time, but we have not yet found an upholsterer who does this for a reasonable price! But know, it's a work in progress!! There is a rack in the making for the discs in the Crossfight, at the moment all weights are often mixed up and that is not really convenient. The hope is that when the next blog appears, it will adorn the Crossfight.

McGregor vs Mayweather
This Saturday night, the fight of the century will be held between Mayweather and Conor McGregor. Members of Burning Heart will be able to follow this fight on a big screen in our Dojo. Please bring your own drinks, for the rest there is no charge involved.

Continued "History"

The dojo became more and more full during the lessons and slowly but surely the ceiling was reached. At a certain moment they said goodbye to Noëll who had found her own place in Hilversum. Adjacent to the existing dojo was a room that was much larger, but this room was a complete shell that had not yet been repaired, only electricity was available.
At one point, Jerry called me over and said, "Dad, I want to show you something."
Curious about what he wanted to show me, we walked into the adjacent building and went to the first floor. He opened a door and I saw a gigantic space in my eyes, full of enthusiasm jerry told me, Dad this is probably going to be our new Dojo. I had to swallow when his words came to me and immediately thought what is that young starting. My first reaction was, man this is not going to cost in rent and what a mountain of work has to be done to make this a bit presentable. In principle, I agree with the rent, which is not too bad and we can do most of the work ourselves. Don't forget that it's a time of crisis and this building has been empty from the start. Now there was a huge exodus going on in this part of the industrial area, especially after the departure of RTL Nederland which had moved to the broadcasting site. In addition, I have stipulated that the rent will only start after I have turned it into a Dojo. Had to let everything sink in for a while, but skeptical as I am, it immediately felt right. I'm not clumsy myself so I saw all kinds of jobs for me.
After Jerry had finalized everything with the landlord, action was quickly taken through a so-called working group led by Bart Hagendoorn. Bart had connections and the necessary experience in the construction industry, which is why the choice fell on him. First of all, a plan for the campaign was drawn up in which members who could possibly contribute were examined. There were more than enough volunteers, but something like this has to be handled properly. The first step was to bring in the blocks that had to become the necessary partitions. 2 changing rooms, space for a sauna, spacious toilet and the location of the bar were measured precisely so that we did not regret anything afterwards.

Until my next blog.
Dick
