Grid, Artwork and Jeremy

Just a few more days and for many people the vacations will be over.
Schools will start again and at the Dojo we will slowly but surely go back to daily business. Must say that the occupancy rate at our gym has not been disappointing at all, except for the youth classes.
An average of 170 people per day visited our gym and I personally do not find that disappointing at all. At the time of writing, the sparrows are falling from the roof; even I, who can handle the heat, am starting to feel a bit of discomfort. Not surprising because my flat faces south so from noon until sunset the sun shines fully into my flat.
Actually similar to the Dojo but fortunately there is Airco which provides a pleasant temperature in both the Fitness and Crossfight rooms.
Next Friday on the schedule Brazilian Jiu-jitsu starts again and we hope these classes will get a bigger turnout because it is definitely worth taking this class.
Also back on the schedule next week is Twan Cornelissen on Monday and Wednesday mornings for his Technique classes as well as Tuesday evenings. On Saturdays he teaches Crossfight at 10:00 and then a Kickboxing Technique class at 11:00.

Run Tickets
It is starting to get anxiously close, the Fisherman Friend run in which 84 athletes from our Dojo are participating. Last Monday was quite busy at Jeremy's Crossfight class. Can't repeat it enough, dear people don't underestimate this run because looking at footage from last year on their website I think it's pretty tough what you're going to do.

This week we received the start numbers and start time of our group and in the accompanying mail also instructions on how to get the start numbers.
In short, it comes down to assigning one representative to pick up the necessary stuff from our group at the start desk. Daphne volunteered to take care of that. As soon as she received the mail she asked to receive the start tickets by mail since our experience with the previous run made that seem like the best thing to do. Unfortunately that turned out not to be possible. Damn inconvenient because not everyone travels by bus and arrives at the course at different times. Fortunately we still have some time so Daphne will come up with an acceptable solution.
Also checked the payments this week and there are still a number of people who need to meet the run. A lot more people still need to pay the bus, so our request is to do this promptly.

Artwork
The raffle prize pool has expanded a bit again and you may have noticed, in the hall there is a specially designed wooden bench created by artist Dave Harmsworth of the Treeworks company.
It is planned that this magnificent bench will be auctioned off during the BBQ on September 4 after the run.
There is currently a bid of € 300.00 but we hope to go well over this.

Jeremy
Another announcement, Jeremy has been temporarily disabled by a very nasty infection. In fact, he has been in the hospital. With the necessary antibiotics, he has been sent home.

Knowing Jeremy, he will soon be back on the Dojo floor teaching.

Until my next blog,
Dick
