New mats in the Dojo

I experience this week as very "relaxed", I had planned to let go of the reins at the beginning of the week and to be at least present at the Dojo. I have to say that this idea suits me just fine, of course I am present every morning to carry out the daily cash check, unfortunately with varying results. It sometimes happens that people forget to write down certain income in the book provided for this purpose. Fortunately, I find out after inquiring, so don't think that anyone has so-called quick fingers. We consider ourselves fortunate that those days are far behind us. For the rest, we made some small adjustments, e.g. hung a poster in the gym of our main supplier Fitness Result. For the rest of the week, people will see me at least at the Dojo, other than shooting some pictures for our upcoming new website.

Cleaning work
A Dojo like ours needs a lot of cleaning, you name a few things, vacuuming and mopping all the floors of the various rooms every day, trying to remove dust from the numerous devices, cleaning the punching bags several times a week and also keeping our branch clean. Just some of the things that need to be done. In the past, Reggie was busy with that all day, we consider ourselves lucky that from Nov. 1. Stijn, in addition to giving his famous judo lessons, has been added to our cleaning team. Of course it takes some getting used to for Stijn, but we are convinced that he will express himself well in his new job in addition to teaching judo.

Toilet paper
My blog wouldn't be my blog if I didn't have a criticism of the use of toilet paper in our Dojo. It is unbelievable how many rolls per day go through our Dojo, on average about 8 rolls per 24 hours. That's 56 rolls of toilet paper in one week and believe me, I'm not exaggerating! What if you start using the toilet paper for what it was originally intended for and not to dry off and the like? From now on there is a paper roll on the toilet upstairs, which is not a license to use this paper as a towel just to dry your hands. In the past, one roll went through every 2 days, one understands that is an extraordinary average. I would also ask our Members to dispose of the used paper in the appropriate bin and not on the ground, as has often happened in the past. The dispensers in the toilets have been put back into use, both downstairs and upstairs, so let's hope that these toilet roll holders, which contain 2 rolls, will last at least 24 hours.

New mats
You may have noticed that in the hall downstairs there are 2 large pallets with brand new floorboards. It took a while, but last Wednesday these new mats arrived. It is planned that these new mats will be laid in the Dojo this Sunday. Our hope is that after the morning Mass some people will stay to form a kind of human link to pass the old mats down and then the new mats up. We have enough people for the actual laying of the floor, so in summary: half an hour of your time to form the human link.

New Year's Dive
It's still a bit early but from next week there will be a sign-up list for our New Year's dive at the dojo.
Daphne has submitted an application to the municipality of Wijdemeren for the necessary permits.

Music
As of tomorrow (Friday) we hope that the problems with the music will be solved. By installing SONOS, only designated people can manage the music. There are still some adjustments to be made to the wifi network and then we hope that we will be rid of the music misery.

Hilversum news
You may have seen the video on Facebook of Hilversum Mediastad.
Some time ago they visited Burning Heart for an article about kickboxing. The preamble to the article reads:
YOUNG AND FIT! Sana and Ayoub kickbox at the Burning Heart gym.
Kickboxing is more than sport.....it's also about respect, self-confidence and perseverance.
You can read the interview with the children and trainer Jeremy in the Gooi and Eemlander or on www.hilversum.nl/nieuws.
I would like to compliment our head coach Jeremy Blijd with his wise words that he says in this interview and hits the nail on the head!

Until my next blog.
