Mats in the Dojo!?

I had been rolling up my sleeves for the weekend on Saturday after Noëll's Bag and Conditioning training with Daan, Ab and Jerry and started preparing for the new mats. Because there was a difference in level between the old and the new Dojo, the floor was carved over the entire length. In the meantime I removed the old floor mats and vacuumed the concrete floor thoroughly. After a trench of about 45 cm had been made. wide and a few centimeters deep, this trench filled with sand-cement. A job that Ab and Daan were entrusted with. In the meantime we started laying the new mats, which went smoothly for us. Around six o'clock in the afternoon we were forced to stop because we had arrived at the gully that had just been filled up.
Sunday morning I saw on the cameras at home that Jerry was early at the Dojo so I quickly got dressed and joined him. Fortunately, Daan came by and did the carving around the concrete poles, quite a complicated job but Daan has been entrusted with that. You will always see, the morning mass was well attended so all the punching bags moved to the other side and this side was overcrowded but good to work on the bags. We abandoned the original plan to bring down the old mats afterwards. However, a few volunteers have exchanged the yellow mats at Ladies Own for black mats. Jerry wanted to add some nuances of color and in my opinion he succeeded. The black mats in blocks of two turned out particularly well and give cachet to the floor. When everyone had left, I finished the floor with my boys, except for the edge around the boxing ring. Quite a complicated carving so the poles decided to do that the next morning, partly due to the fact that Jerry still had to make quite a few invoices. Heard the next day that he was busy with the invoices until 2 o'clock in the morning, hats off to this guy!!
Monday morning we finished the floor together with Marco and around 10 o'clock the new floor was in perfect condition and quite proud of what we have achieved again.

Hiptruster
It took a while but on Tuesday the HipTruster finally arrived.
Received comments via facebook about what this device entails.
The hip thrust, also known as the queen of glute exercises, trains your buttocks like no other. In addition, the exercise contributes to better performance in other exercises such as the deadlift. Getting stronger and mastering the movement is such a desired goal for many. If everything goes according to plan, there will be an instructional video with an explanation on Facebook on Thursday or Friday. Here's the You Tube code

Crossfight
Jerry wanted to cancel Thursday's Crossfight class due to large crowds at Otopoets. After he posted this announcement on Facebook a few days ago "Sorry!! Poets is so incredibly busy and I always have to ask someone else to give the Crossfight on Thursday 7.30pm. As much as I like it, there's just no time for it for now. That's why I'm taking this hour out until I have more time to spare! I'm sincerely sorry but do everything full throttle and this hour I want everyone to be able to count on me and not just wait to see who gives the lesson, that's half throttle so to speak.
One day later the following message:
Okay! So many disappointing noises that the Crossfight on Thursday was taken out and it doesn't feel right either, godammmm! I'm just going to make sure I get those cars ready on time and make sure I'm there. We are also going to use Stijn Taling's knowledge and he has already indicated that he will be there if I really can't do it. You know, I just can't stand it when I can't do something 120 prct right but I'm starting all these companies myself so have to shut up and step on the gas! I'll be there tomorrow at 7.30 pm but you're going to show maximum effort and show up!! Deal?????
So everything remains the same.

Youth Message
On the 19th of November, 11 youth members of Burning Heart will enter the ring at the FPA gala in Amersfoort. Quite a representation of our dojo and we wish all fighters a sporty and successful gala. This is followed by a message from the Dutch Martial Arts Authority that will tighten the rules for techniques to the head in order to prevent young people from suffering brain damage. In the International Medical Center in Amsterdam on Wednesday evening, the Dutch Martial Arts Authority presented a number of guidelines that should make the popular martial arts a lot safer. One of the new rules is that it is only allowed to play matches in MMA from the age of 18, this rule will come into force from January 1, 2018.
The other rules are:
– January 2018- up to 10 years of competitions allowed
– January 2018- up to and including 15 years no techniques to the head
– January 2019 - up to and including 16 years no techniques to the head
– January 2020 - up to and including 17 years no techniques to the head

Judo
This Saturday, Stijn Taling and his team will take exams again to get a step higher. Personally, I will be less behind the bar because of capturing this happening on film for our youth members.

Until my next blog.
