Youth and Sports

Slowly but surely the prize pool of the raffle benefiting Fight Cancer is being revealed. Must say there are some great prizes to be won, such as various dinner vouchers, clothing vouchers, photo shoot and so on. Of course, I also buy the necessary lottery tickets, in this lottery fortunately staff can also participate, and like many I also have my preference in terms of prizes, namely that homemade apple pie of my granddaughter.
Speaking of my granddaughter, Chloë de Jong, in quite a short time, with the help of Jerry, who posted the call on Facebook, she managed to get it to over a thousand euros personally sponsored.
This 11-year-old girl, who with dispensation from the organization, they did require a covering letter from her parents, is going to put down what I consider a world performance because I believe with all my heart that she will complete the Run.

Youth and sports.
I am personally blessed with 4 granddaughters who each in their own way have to do with sports in one form or another. Of course it is easy for me to talk when your son owns his own gym but I believe that sports are extremely important, especially for the growing youth. Saw a program on T.V. recently where it was mentioned that the number of obese children had increased worryingly recently.

When I think back to my own childhood and especially to my parents, they were not sports-loving at all, but did not stand in my way when it came to sports.
I was someone who could not stand to lose and if it happened that I lost, I was unbearable for days.
In my youth the choice of sports was not as big as it is today, so I chose to play soccer. I remember like yesterday getting my first soccer shoes, Puma with removable studs. Even took them to bed with me so proud was I of these kicks.
The other day I was helping a father at the bar at Burning Heart who wanted to buy kickboxing gloves for his son's birthday. Was allowed to say absolutely nothing to the little boy because it would be a surprise for him. The father in question enjoyed the moment more when I handed him the gloves than the boy himself was my opinion. Full of pride the father came to me a few days later to tell me that his son was delighted with the gloves and did not want to part with them, even in bed. I immediately thought of myself because I had gone through the same thing with my soccer shoes.
Parents try to encourage your children about sports because it is very important.
Take kickboxing for the youth, it gives them self-control, respect for the opponent and it is essential for their physical development.
When I see the kids at Burning Heart, I often enjoy their reactions on the mat and the enthusiasm they show.
I have resolved to be fully present with my camera after the vacation season and to regularly make short videos that can be seen on Facebook.

Until my next blog,
Dick
