Fight Cancer

Sometimes things are with us, sometimes they are against us. This week is one of those occasions when not everything goes the way you want it to. We recently started a gigantic job, re-entering all members, and there are quite a few, into our new member database for the direct debit.
Currently the direct debit still runs separately from the system Epass offers us, but in order to transfer that, the correct Iban number must be entered for each member.
In addition, the start date must be set to August 30.
The type of subscription must also be adjusted.
Some 20 pages with more than 50 members on each sheet that all have to be adjusted.
An average of 14 clicks per member with my mouse in various fields before the save button is reached.
In addition, the members supplied by Jerry are often somewhat different than in our new file, example: the name Wijnen, which can be written in different ways, Weinen, Wynen, Weyen, Weijnen. If I'm lucky it's an instant hit but throughout the week it's often the last option. Especially with Moroccan or Turkish names, sometimes it really is a jigsaw puzzle.
Per sheet there are on average 8 dashes instead of check marks and then the only option is to get out the registration forms together with Jerry and find out who is meant by means of that sheet. A job that takes about half an hour per sheet.
Hear you think why do it but once the job is done it doesn't outweigh the current way. A big advantage is just processing the deposits that take place every month. Now it takes Daphne about a day to track them down, then the members in question have to be blocked manually and, in addition, notified via text message or phone call or email that they are blocked at the Dojo.
In the new system, one is automatically blocked in the event of a reversal and an e-mail also automatically goes to the person in question.
A huge advantage over the current processing.
Since Jerry runs 2 businesses, Otopoets and Burning Heart, and Daphne has a family of 5 with 3 growing girls in addition to her Personal Training, I offered to do this job.
In between came another chore this week, signing up 80 participants for the Fishermanfriend Strongman Run, they want to know first name, last name and date of birth. So back to the members file to look up those details, what turned out to be many members did not fill in their date of birth so it always said 1-1-1990, the default.
Didn't feel like calling each of these people so I just filled in the date of birth.
In short, a week that did not exactly go smoothly but we cheerfully continue filling in the correct data.

Fitness equipment
Thursday, July 14, the equipment purchased from Dick Vrij for the addition of the fitness room was picked up and taken directly to the company that is going to mop them up so they will look spick and span. If all goes well, they will be delivered to Burning Heart on Saturday.
Now we just hope that the elevator is adequate to get them upstairs and we don't have to tinker too much to make it happen.

Fight Cancer
Returning briefly to the Fishermans Friend Run at Hellendoorn. It has recently been announced that Dojo Burning Heart has used this run to sponsor Fight Cancer.

Through the initiative of one of our members, Maeva Lageba, who is fighting with everything in her to overcome this terrible disease, all kinds of actions are held to raise as much money as possible.
Everything can be followed via our wonderful website, just look at www.burning-heart.nl/maeva/ and you will be kept up to date with what is going on. This page will be online from the beginning of next week.

Until my next blog,
Dick
