Dojo, Dojo, Dojo, Loving da-Dojo Life!

Hello dear readers of my weekly blog, time goes by so fast. It's been a week since I wrote blog 110 and now the next blog is on the roll. Fortunately, the weather conditions are going in the right direction, last Tuesday spring officially started but there is little to notice outside. The activities at the dojo continue unabated, whether it's chilly or a bit warmer.
The daily number of visitors to our dojo is increasing by the week and that is nice to see.  The number of fresh items from the weekly blog is, as always, quite a task, but I have found something to write about because I don't want to keep repeating myself.

Youth exams

March 23rd 16.30 the very first KICKBOXING EXAMS will take place for the kids!!
Certificate 1 is what every child can get and this is about the absolute basics. Think of hands by the head, direct punches, angles, low kicks, kicks body, knees and forward kicks, a bit of fitness of course. It's going to be super fun and everyone can come and have a look! Grandpa, grandma, brothers, sisters, the neighbor, etc.
Certificate 2 will go a bit further, there we will work with combinations and we will continue to build on the basics. Defensively, we will also go into everything here
Certificate 3 really involves takeovers, attack and defense zones etc. For example, we are going to introduce serious gradations into kickboxing, as in all martial arts. A challenge for the kids and a goal to train towards!! But first, upcoming exam for certificate 1. You will also receive this signed official Burning Heart certificate after the exam.
Loving da dojo life! Structure it with an eye to the future...
Of course I will be there to take care of photos and film work so that the young athletes have a nice memento to look back on in addition to the certificate.

Viking Run at Wijchen Nijmegen

One more week to register!! June 23, start time 12 noon... After that I won't do anything about it and you can register yourself and there is a good chance that the start time 12 noon will be full!! So sign up... It's going to be a great day again!! Cost 50e plus 10th if you go on the bus!! BBQ end of day at Burning Heart will follow.... According to a message on facebook from Jerry de Jong, mister Burning Heart. You will think, he is there early, but in consultation with the organization and to avoid disappointment, this is the closing date to sign up. The popularity of this great event is increasing by the year, so we are following the advice we have received, hence this announcement.
This week I put 2 short videos from the past editions of 2017 and 2016 on my timeline.  Let's hope the weather cooperates, just like the previous editions.
We will make it an unforgettable event together!!

Replacement of leather supports devices course space

Don't know if it has already been realized at the time of publication of this blog, but some supports of 2 devices in the course room showed wear and tear and needed to be replaced. These are small things, but they are necessary.
Martin van Dam, upholsterer, has taken care of this job and we do not doubt his skill given the previous repairs he has done for us.

Mailbox for comments/complaints

A while ago, Jerry had a bus placed in the hall with a remark/complaint form. Last week this bus was emptied and we were very curious if there was a response to it. To our surprise, the bus received quite a few responses. Reactions of various kinds, some difficult to implement but others that we will certainly work with. A simple example, on top of the gym there is a sink with tap that is difficult to fill for your bottle. Never thought of it when installing it, but by replacing this tap with a higher one, everyone can fill their bottle properly. A simple request but oh so important. In the meantime, this job has been done. Another example: in the judo dojo a bench for bags was made from the beginning, but soon it was used as a bench for interested people who wanted to watch the performances of their kids. Now this construction was of such a nature that it was not suitable as a bench, but a solution has been found for that too.

Result youth

Last weekend 3 athletes from Burning Heart fought a match with great results for Burning Heart.Senna's match ended undecided, Lillian won her first match and Kervan ditto. About Kervan another peculiarity that gives his victory more shine. At the weigh-in, Kervan turned out to be 6 kilos overweight for his opponent, but that didn't bother Kervan. In a convincing way, he showed his opponent all corners of the ring. Congratulations to all 3 athletes with this great result for Burning Heart.
Another small thing that connects to the youth, last Monday I saw on the camera at home that the so-called Judo dojo was overcrowded with pupils of Jeremy, wonderful to see and a token of appreciation for the entire team of supervisors of our youth.
