Burning Heart on TV

Dojo, Burning Heart, Boxing, senior

How much we are enjoying the beautiful summer weather. Every day wonderful temperatures and a practically cloudless sky that only turns blue. Fortunately, at night the temperature drops to a reasonable level so it is bearable in my apartment, curtains closed during the day and my balcony door open for 24 hours. The only thing missing is a refreshing shower because it is dry as a bone.
And little seems to change for the time being.
At the dojo the air conditioners are running at full speed only I regularly see people opening the windows and that is exactly what one should not do. How many times have I closed the windows. Especially at night I regularly see people opening the windows in the gym, the result is the opposite. Remarkable are the large numbers of athletes who visit our dojo despite the hot weather, on average we count about 300 visitors daily and spread over the whole day. There is not a moment that our dojo counts no visitors, except for some night hours.
We have some very busy days ahead of us with the highlight being next Saturday.
Starting with filming during the judo exams and directly afterwards to the Gooiland theater where the end of season show will be held. There are still some tickets available for this event.

What is annoying is that they are currently repairing the gallery of my apartment, almost all day I can hear the drone of hammers removing concrete rot. Also, the floor of the gallery is being taken care of and painting is being done. A job scheduled until the end of September.

Galas youth Utrecht and Wijk bij Duurstede

Last Saturday at gala Utrecht Kiki entered the ring and made it to the semi-finals where she faced an opponent she could normally handle. However, her opponent did not really want to fight and clinched every time. Clinching is not really Kiki's thing so she lost her match, a learning moment for her. At our dojo the trainers will focus more on clinching because November 10 a rematch is planned.
At the same gala Chris fought in the -32kg group and won his first match in a big way, which he repeated in his second and third match to reach the final, which he won.
Strangely enough Chris' last match did not turn out to be the final as he had been told beforehand, so Chris had to enter the ring again. Because Chris really gave everything in his so-called final, he lost this match narrowly. That Chris is talented was shown by an invitation to the best of best matches between 24 best youth kickboxers at a later date.
Sunday, July 1, 5 kids showed their talent during the poul sparring in Wijk bij Duurstede.
Jamie, Fillippe, Kazem, Naud and Achmed did their very best and sparred very well.
Unfortunately no cups to take home but a great experience.

Boxing

That there is a large group of boxers going on Tuesdays and Thursdays each time under Jeremy's direction is well known. On Tuesday night an elderly man reported who was eager to spar with us.
This man, who possesses the blessed age of 81, participated fully in the sparring hour and what was entertaining was regularly providing Jeremy with tips and advice. Wonderful to still be fully engaged in boxing at such an age!

Burning Heart on TV

Recently a request came in from a production company called Blue Circle if dojo Burning Heart wanted to participate in a new program of RTL called Mijn zaak is de Beste.
A program that will be broadcasted on primetime and of course we cooperated.
In Mijn Zaak Is De Beste three entrepreneurs investigate the business of their competitors and we take a look into their world. From fishmongers to dog groomers, from gyms to museums. The entrepreneurs smell, taste, look around and judge each other. Each episode also features a well-known enthusiast who visits and judges all three businesses. The entrepreneur with the most points wins and goes home with the title: My Business Is The Best!
Wednesday, July 11, a TV crew from Blue Circle is coming to record on our dojo and we will do our best to look good. ?

Judo exams

This Saturday our judo mat will be filled with judo youth who will try to obtain a new slip or belt. I have participated in several exams and every time it is a feast to see those girls and boys. Although I am very busy this Saturday I decided to film a few things. New is the fall diploma at Burning Heart, a nice initiative of the Taling brothers.
