Burning Heart reviews
History
Judo was developed by Japanese Jigoro Kano and is originally a defensive sport. Jigoro was a small and slender man as a child. He was bullied a lot but did not have the courage to do anything in return. When Jigoro was about 16 years old he started Jiu-Jitsu. He had heard that in this sport you can learn how to beat a physically stronger opponent. During the following period, Jigoro began to feel more and more confident. His fitness improved and he became physically stronger, but most importantly, he became much stronger mentally. Jigoro Kano finally dared to stand up for himself.
Although Kano felt that Jiu-Jitsu had many good qualities, he found that it could also be tough. He was often covered in Band-Aids and even got a nickname for this; "Bansoko" (the Band-Aid).
Kano thought things could be different. After much training, he came up with the sport of judo in 1882. Judo means "the gentle way. Unlike Jiu-Jitsu, the sport is not about beating your opponent, it is more like a game of how best to throw or control someone without injuring them. In judo, you learn to use your opponent's strength to overpower them.
Frolic champions from 2.5 years old and up
The romp champions are our judokas from 2.5 to 4 years old. The class lasts half an hour and this length is perfect in relation to concentration. Toddlers are always on the go. It is the period when they discover, climb, scramble, frolic and so on. It's all part of it! During the judo classes in the Laren region we find it important to give the children all the space they need. The motor skills develop unprecedentedly fast and every judoka makes new friends.
Some judoka feel right at home, while others wait to see what happens. To give every toddler the feeling of fun and safety, the parents join us on the mat! And secretly, some parents like it even more than the child itself. Just think, half an hour of frolic with your son or daughter after a busy work week is wonderful, isn't it?
