Pentecost and data protection

Thursday in other words blog-time.
Not everyone will agree with me, but personally happy that the holidays are coming to an end and everything is going back to normal. You hear you think, easy talk for someone who is retired, but during my working life I felt the same way. Let me be busy, don't be the man to do nothing. The visit to the dojo goes smoothly, but I do have an item that I have come back to so many times that your courage slowly but surely sinks. In the blog itself I come back to it for the umpteenth time. Despite the days off lately, many find their way to dojo Burning Heart, always read the visit back the next day and can tell that the average visit is well over 300 athletes per day, a nice fact! At the moment I split my time between our dojo and the dance school because of the upcoming performance of our dancers in theater Gooiland. Requires quite a bit of preparation for such a performance, I am responsible for the film part and of course I want to look good.

Crossfight

Mentioned it in the introduction, despite the repeated calls to handle our stuff properly, it was a hit again last Wednesday in the Crossfight.  When I turned on the camera images on my computer on Thursday morning, I immediately noticed what a mess they had made of this room. After drinking a cup of coffee, I turned on the remote playback to see who was responsible for this. Thinking this mess was made during the night, I scrolled back the timeline further and further and was amazed when I stopped at 11:00 in the morning. The image was almost unchanged, a huge mess. Now we as Burning Heart have to put our own house in order because Jerry has asked our employees countless times to make a round in the meantime and clean up the floor where necessary, especially after the last lesson. There are still people who use stuff and just don't clean up afterwards and just leave without it. Something we keep running into. This is undoubtedly due to the fact that there is no permanent supervision, but it should not be a reason for things to get so out of hand. So athletes, for the umpteenth time, when you're done with your exercise, clean up your stuff and put it back. That is the most normal thing in the world!
In the past, I have blocked quite a few members or sent a message asking them to participate in a decent dojo, often with encouraging results. If you see a person making a mess, feel free to say something about it.

Pentecost

The house of martial arts in the Gooi, dojo Burning Heart, is closed on the Whitsun days.
With the exception of Whit Monday, there is a bag and fitness training at 10.00 am in the morning, the so-called morning mass.
For the rest, there are no regular classes, but the fitness and Crossfight are open.
On Sundays from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Whit Monday from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Drip holders can be used 24/7 for sports.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

As of 25 May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. From that date, the same privacy laws will apply throughout the European Union (EU). The Personal Data Protection Act (Wbp) will then no longer apply. As a gym, we have to comply with this law from that date.
There are quite a few misunderstandings, for example, we as a gym were happy with the following email from Epass, the company that takes care of our membership administration, this company says the following:

Best relation of Epass Online

Lately, I have sent you an email more often on the subject of GDPR. And despite the fact that we at Epass Online do not have to check your internal processes, we think it is a good fit for our service to help you on your way. I hope that this effort, which is free of charge, will be appreciated. There are already plenty of companies active that want to make financial gains through this legislation.

Yesterday evening, at the invitation of the municipality of Zoetermeer, I attended a meeting about GDPR. The presentation was given by a lawyer who specializes in this legislation.
85% of the new law comes from the existing legislation and due to the enormous media attention, many entrepreneurs have "panicked" about what is expected of you.
This Lawyer informed us that he is going to send various documents that sports-related companies, associations, foundations can use freely. Think of a Privacy Statement, Declaration of Consent, text for your general terms and conditions, text for your website, text for your internal regulations. I will forward all these documents to all of you so that you can use them freely.
This Lawyer indicated that if you use this documentation you are 95% ready for this law. The remaining 5% is then the staff who have to point out this legislation and if you have done that and you have properly stored the documentation in a designated folder, you can refer to it directly in the event of a possible inspection.

I hope that this documentation will follow this week, but as soon as I have received it, and have studied it carefully, it will go your way one on one.
Especially I, as the court filmmaker of Burning Heart, am happy with this documentation and will go through it together with Daphne and René.

A great service from Epass!

Until the next blog
Dick
