Dojo Drone

And again this week has flown by, although it is a week that is not very smooth as far as the weather is concerned. It remains too cold and the sun shows itself far too little for my liking.
Did Jerry look better by booking a week in Greece. Not a big deal compared to the old days, he is staying on Rhodes in the company of 6 girls. Temperature there around 23 degrees.

I spoiled myself this week by purchasing a Drone, a device that has been on my wish list for quite some time. Together with Jerry I bought this DJI Mavic Pro, the name of the super device. Hope to make awesome images with it. Beginning did not run from a lije dak with the Drone, you must download a special App and install it on your mobile. Through YouTube videos the advice to then optimize the firmware. Thought two know more than one and via Facebook got the help of Hans Ooms. Couldn't have gone wrong with the chief of the Schiphol control tower but things turned out differently. Drone operation is different from safely navigating these big boys through the airspace. Upgrading the required download did not go smoothly, after 20 minutes it still only showed 3%. Still, it worked miraculously to start the drone and due to the fact that we both had little to no experience we moved outside to try the Drone. The drone went like fire and soon I was flying above my 6-story apartment. Hans went home and I put the SD card in my computer to see the result of our first flight. It was disappointing because of the vibrations of the displayed image. My thought was look at it the next day because the clock was not stopped and the evening had already progressed, besides I discovered that I had not yet eaten dinner.

Didn't look at the Drone the next day because I was too busy with other things. Thursday morning the Drone under my arm and off to the Dojo to check again if it was now working properly. The result was again disappointing so I consulted YouTube to see what I did wrong. According to the many instructional videos on this channel I did everything right. Had purchased the Drone at Kamera-expres but it seemed better to consult a specialized company. A call to Droneland Almere and could feel free to come by with my complaints. Jumped in the car and half an hour later I walked into their shop with my Drone under my arms. Problem presented and after I was offered a cup of coffee the employee disappeared with my Drone to the technical department. Quarter of an hour later he returned and had reinstalled the software. The problem should now be solved and after I asked what to charge I was told "oh no way, that's service from us". Thanked the friendly employee and went to the Dojo full of expectations to see the result. Made some recordings and went home to see if indeed the problems were solved. SD card in the computer and indeed the result was as expected. Nice still image so I am a happy man again. On the Facebook page of Droneland I thanked the company once again for their great service! It has been an extensive report on the ups and downs of the drone but it was convenient because there is not much news to tell this week regarding our Dojo. Everything goes on with or without Mister Dojo, so no grumbling item although I am still annoyed by the people who walk through without checking in.

Memorial Day
We are writing Thursday, May 4, 8:15 pm, just come from the Dojo due to the fact that I am currently the only one with a key to the music box, suspect Jerry has the permanent key in his pocket. Because at 8 p.m. it is the custom in the Netherlands to stand and be silent for 2 minutes because of remembrance of the dead.
Can't say I was impressed with this 2 minutes of silence at the Dojo, you could hear a pin drop during these 2 minutes. On behalf of us thank you for showing this respect!

Until my next blog.
Dick
