The Hague open BJJ and Grappling.

BJJ, Burning Heart, Dojo, Hilversum

Saturday, March 31, part of the BJJ team was present at the Hague open BJJ and Grappling.
A small delegation of 4 fighters took to the mat throughout the day.

Rich kicked off the day in the white belt class for men 35 and older. That this class does not consist of participants with lower physicality was evident from his first match which he had to give up within a minute on a triangle choke. The second game ran the full 5 minutes and in it his opponent was the stronger on points.
Next, the Brett his debut in the men's white belt division up to 88.3 pounds. Despite only training in BJJ since January this year, he showed tenacity and technique in both matches. Unfortunately, he lost the first match on points and due to finishing two different divisions on two mats, he had a long break until his second match. In the closing seconds his opponent managed to achieve a submission via an armbar, for a long time it seemed that Brett could offer enough resistance to fight the full five minutes again.
Maria debuted in the women's white belt to 60 pounds. Also Maria decided to "just join" with less than a year of training.
Where she narrowly lost the first game on points, she won the second game convincingly on points and could prepare for the battle for bronze. Unfortunately her opponent was very experienced and had to Maria knocked off on an armbar in the early stages of the match.
Last took Michel participated in the grappling section for experienced men up to 91 pounds. Due to the failure of his first opponent to show up, he was guaranteed the final round by draw.
In a tactical battle coached by his trainer Henk Heneweer towards the end of the match, he managed to convincingly win the match to win the first gold medal for Team Burning Heart / Kaishin Hilversum.

Concluding are the brawlers with team members Noufissa and Patrick, who already indicated that they would definitely take to the mat next time as well, traveled on to Brazilian Restaurant Rodizio in Scheveningen. After all, a day like this may be ended in style.

Remarkable to those who were a first at such a tournament as this was the convivial atmosphere. Everyone came for the sport and quickly became acquainted with various members of both Kaishin and other teams.
On behalf of the participants a thank you to the supporters who came along and also Natascha and Tim who came to watch.
Currently we are already considering which tournament will be next. Secretly we assume that the trend of growing number of participants will continue.
